Why You Should Buy Luxury Waterfront Real Estate in Victoria
Why should you move to Victoria, British Columbia? Is it because of the culture? Quite possibly. The attractions? Most definitely. Or is it because of the vast amount of luxury waterfront real estate available? I would have to say, absolutely.
Unlike the majority of other coastal cities, Victoria boasts year round temperate climates and receives more sunshine than surrounding areas. In fact, Victoria is not only one of the sunniest places in British Columbia, but it also receives more sunshine than most other cities in Canada. The only other cities that beat Victoria for sunshine are those that are located in the southern Prairies.
So what are some of the reasons to locate to Victoria, other than the amazing weather and luxury waterfront properties? Well there is also the unique culture and the many attractions available to residents.
There are many cultural happenings in Victoria, including music, theatre and film. Here are just a few examples:
Music
There is a growing independent scene in Victoria, and all of Canada for that matter, which can easily be heard just by listening to one of Canada's national broadcast programs, CBC Radio3. There are a number of well-known musicians that call Victoria home, from Nelly Furtado to Aidan Knight, from Wolfe Parade to Hot Hot Heat, just to name a few.
There is more than just Canadian independent music alive in the streets of Victoria. Every BC weekend, the Victoria Symphony participates in an outdoor event called Symphony Splash, which includes the orchestra performing from a barge in Victoria's inner harbour.
During the same time as the Symphony is entertaining over 40 thousand audience members, there is an electronic music festival in Centennial Square called simply "The Electronic Music Festival", which showcases DJs from around the globe showing off their musical skills.
Other local music festivals include the Ska Fest, the Jazz Fest and the Rifflandia Festival.
Theatre and Film
One of the most important theatres in Victoria is the Belfry. The Belfry is a professional not-for-profit theatre company that strives to produce contemporary theatre with an emphasis on new Canadian plays. Other local theatres include the Phoenix Theatre, the Kaleidoscope Theatre and the Intrepid Theatre.
Victoria is also home to many film events, such as the Free-B Film Festival, the Victoria Independent Film & Video Festival, Antimatter Underground Film Festival and the Victoria Fringe Festival.
When it comes to attractions, Victoria doesn't lack for them. There are many things to see and do, from enjoying the open air of one of the many parks, to visiting the impressive museums and historical buildings.
Parks
Victoria's main urban green space is Beacon Hill Park, which is home to numerous playing fields, gardens, and exotic animals. The park also has some of the most spectacular views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic mountain range.
Museums
Victoria is home to a number of museums, including the CFB Esquimalt navy base that has a base museum dedicated to naval and military history. There is also the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the Royal British Columbia Museum, the Emily Carr House and the Royal London Wax Museum.
Historical Buildings
Some of the oldest buildings in Canada can be found in Victoria, from the British Columbia Legislative Buildings, which was completed in 1898 to the The Empress Hotel, which opened in 1909. There is also St. Ann's Schoolhouse and the Temple Emanuel, the oldest synagogue in Canada.
For these reasons, and many more, you should buy luxury waterfront real estate in Victoria.

Where can I buy carved out coin jewelry in BC, Canada?
When I was in Victoria this summer, I saw a little booth on the promenade by the Empress/Legislative Assembly that was selling carved out coins like pennies and the such (there were rarer and foreign coins too...). If anyone knows where I can find a store or a site that sells something like that, please let me know. Thank you!
I would try some of the local coin shops. I've seen that in a shop or two in the past. This is always a popular gift around the holidays.
