Choosing the Right Promotional Printed Pens
There are thousands of different promotional pens available today, how can you ensure you are getting the right one for your businesses promotion?
Firstly you need to decide what you want to achieve? Is it a low cost giveaway item or a gift to your top customers? Then decide on what budget you are working to and the quantity of pens you require. This will determine if you are looking at branded pens such as Parker, Waterman or Sheaffer, other metal pens or plastic promotional pens.
For example - 'I want 1000 pens to giveaway at a exhibition with a budget of no more than £500 all in'
For this example you would be looking at plastic pens. Now this has been decided you need to decide what you want on the pens. Your company logo, website address, telephone number, straplines etc.....This will give you an idea of how big a print area you will need. For example a logo such as the Nike swoosh would take up little space but a logo such as our own would require more space. Artwork is needed in EPS format with lines saved as curves (if this doesn't mean anything to you ask your promotional gifts provider and they can help!).
Once you know this you can start looking into the style of promotional pens available. Keep an eye on the print area of the given pens. Pens come with various print areas depending on the shape of the barrel, if it has a grip or not and also depending on the size and style of the clip. Some pens have thin print areas of say 5mm x 35mm and others have larger print areas of 45 x 20mm or bigger which can accommodate most logos.
Remember you can ask for samples if you are ordering on line or out of a catalogue, so you can write with the pens to see if your happy with them. It only takes a few days at most for samples to be arranged and delivered.
The standard lead time is normally around 2 weeks from approval, however some pens are available with fast turnarounds of 24 hours, 48 hours or 5 days.
